New shooting contest show, American Marksman, has started sending notifications to contestants that qualified for Regionals, based on their local match scores… and, in a surprising (to me) turn of events.. I’ve qualified for regionals.
I went to the first local match American Marksman had.. and shot my two strings of fire, I ended up having a couple of misfires (which count as misses in the competition).. so I didn’t think I scored well enough to qualify. I then went back a week or so ago, and Murphy’s Law showed up.. and I had jams and failures to extract on both strings, making my score even lower than my initial attempt (hey.. it happens, I’d have booked a third attempt..but I received my qualification notice). I did leave my .22 at the gunsmith over the weekend, just to make sure the issues I had weren’t caused by the weapon..and can be chalked up to Murphy’s Law.
So, now I need to read up on the Regional course of fire (which is posted here), and get ready to head to Byers at the end of June. American Marksman will be providing the weapons and ammo for regionals, which is nice, since I’m a tad frustrated with my .22 at the moment..
I haven’t done a lot of rifle shooting, so I expect that portion of the regionals will be a bit more challenging.. I’m hoping I can get some rifle time in before then, just to get a little practice.
Time to practice….
